Rare, circa 1890s-1920s English Steel Carriage Trunk in a Rare Small 'Suitcase" Size The original Key is included, so the trunk can be locked. There is a small mirror on the inside of the lid as well as the original Pioneer label with a train. The trunk is all-metal with a wood grain PAINTED surface. The top shows considerable wear to the original grain painting with surface rust and some dents. The gold accent paint appears to be original. The top edge has the word "Pioneer" in gold paint but it is dark are hard to see. The fancy deadbolt lock mechanism is a little tricky to get lined up if you want to lock it, but it does work. There is an obscured maker's mark on the center lock flap and patent dates on the back. One patent appears to be for the Netherlands. This was made in England.
