Here for your
consideration is a Mulholland Brothers trolley suitcase, crafted of
Mulholland's proprietary Endurance vinyl with Latigo leather trim.
The case measures 22” x 15” x 9”. If you're in First Class or
Business, you can probably sneak this past the baggage
Nazis...probably not in Coach. The bag has
three outside pockets and inner straps for securing your clothes.
Although certainly not new or “mint”, the bag is in very nice
condition. I've properly cleaned and conditioned it and treated it
with mink oil to enhance its water-resistance. I've also cleaned and
lubricated the zippers, something that many people overlook. Brass
zippers that aren't kept clean and lubricated (usually with Vaseline
and a Q-tip) can very easily tear with age, and replacing the main
zip will cost over $100...IF you can find a shop to do the job.Anyhow, the
bag has a couple small flaws that should be noted. First, the
leather “monogram” tag has been embossed “MAD”. It could be
easily removed or covered with a nice little brass plaque (available
here on eBay for a modest cost). I dunno about you, but if my
initials were MAD I think I would eschew monograms! The second minor
issue is a couple small white marks on the front of the bag (see
photo #7). These might come off with judicious application of a
mild solvent like mineral spirits. Personally, I'd just live with
them.
