What I love about this old suitcase is its amazing construction; aluminum on top of a wood frame. I like that the manufacturer was going for the leather suitcase look even including for looks real thread stitching even though the stitching is not structural but only for the added effect of looking like a leather suitcase. As this case goes flying by someone on the highway on the back of a classic automobile, they would guess it is a leather suitcase. It even has a bakelite handle. I like the brass tone corners; they look like they could be true brass. My best guestimate for the manufacture date is the 1950's. I think about how much equipment it would take to fabricate a case like this I am awestruck. On top of that, I am amazed at how clean the inside is, and for that matter, the outside too! This case would be perfect for a classic automobile. I have taken the time to add Moose skin leather supports so it will stay open but not all the way open. Moose skin leather is perfect for this application because it will not dry out or get crusty and break. I have used pounded copper rivets to fix the support strap to the case. If you are not familiar with pounded copper rivets, they are a really old school re-enforcement that us next to impossible to remove. I have even tried to drill some out before when I have made a mistake and I could not do it. The measurements, in inches, are approximately: 25 x 16 x 8 I can envision it on a Porsche 356 car rack or any of the following automobiles: Jaguar XK8, MGA, Austin Healey 100/4 100/6 3000, Triumph TR7, Nissan Figaro, Datsun 260Z, Jaguar XK 150, Daimler Dart (SP250), Mercedes 380 SL, Boxter, Mazda MX5, Miata PRHT, VW Beetle Convertable, Mercedes Sport SLK Series, Mercedes-Benz SL Series, '63 Chevy Bel Air Wagon, MG, TC, TD ,TF, MGA, MGB, Porsche 356... Top of your classic car with one of my cases. I currently have Car Rack Suitcases listed in my store. This beautiful luggage rack suitcase comes from a smoke-free home in Minnetonka Minnesota.
