Unused, Very Good to Excellent condition. FYI: The 27,888 grt ss Meridian was originally b uilt in 1963 at the Cantiere Riuniti dell'Adriatico, Monfalcone, Italy for Lloyd Triestino as Galileo Galilei. In 1977 she was laid up at Genoa, also marking the end of Lloyd Triestino's 140 years of passenger service. Galileo Galilei arrived at Cantieri Navali Riuniti's Palermo yard for conversion to a one-class cruise ship on October 21, 1977. With her tonnage revised to 28,083 and her name shortened to Galilei , she arrived at Genoa on March 24, 1979 for Mediterranean cruising marketed under Italian Line Cruises International. Her new career was short-lived, however, and she was laid up at Genoa on the following September 29. Sold to Chandris on October 22, 1983 and partnered with New York based Fantasy Cruises and re-named Galileo . After becoming popular and profitable she was refitted and transferred to Chandris' upscale Celebrity Cruises as Meridian in 1989 , began sailing in her new colors in February 1990. She was sold in 1997 to Sun Cruises and met her fate on May 21, 1999. While on route to Singapore, sailing as the Sun Vista , suffered an engine room fire that proved to be too much and sank. +=========================================+ Buying more than one of our listings?
