The diagonally opposite corner has a 11 inch and 15 inch split, but no upright side split at the corner. This splitting is much tighter than the other side. On the bottom of the tray next to one of the splits and extending inward is a crease buckle about 9 inches long.
From the corner with the worst damage there is a smell, it is more than musty smell, it may be due to wetness/dampness which may have caused the damage. This smell could be the result of animal dander or urine. There is a stain mark on the inside bottom of the trunk. The paper around the corner while having some marks looks to be dry. Ask for more photographs, if you wish of this corner of the tray.
The tray still holds together and the splitting could be repaired by glue or small nails, the tray is made of wood with a paper finish.
A paper finish on the tray and inside of the trunk, which has fraying, marks and scratch. Some of the wet marks were put there by seller when trying to clean the outside.
On the outside all metal areas are heavily rusted. The corner brackets will scratch wood floors. The body of the trunk has marks, added to by seller when trying to remove the rust on the metal. Seller thinks the outside body could be cleaned further, seller did some and stopped. Seller tried to clean the metal areas as they are heavily rusted but was not able to make much of a difference and stopped.
The tray sits flat in the trunk, in one photograph the tray is positioned diagonally against the lid, seller positioned it this way so buyer could see both the tray and the inside below, it does not sit this way when the lid is opened.
