Dutch Coca Cola Advertising PadlockThe padlock is in used condition and shows wear with scratches, rub wear, oxidation to U, areas of discoloration, printing wear, and possibly other general wear. Be sure to check all of the pictures closely for the best idea of the general cosmetic condition of the item. The lock is in working order, but in order to operate one must press the small button on it's side, pull the U on top, then turn the U in order to unlock and in order to lock one must pull the U again, align with the hole in the top of the base, then release and the U pulls back into it's slot. I am unsure of the manufacturer of the padlock and am also unsure of it's age. But, judging from the design of the padlock itself and the logo printed on it, I would date it to the 1980s or 1990s. I am also unsure of the original designed purpose, but I am guessing it was a promotional or give away item. The printing under Coca-Cola reads "Gedep. Merk" which is a shortened version of gedeponeerd merk which is Dutch for trademark. So, I would assume the padlock was produced as a promotional item in The Netherlands.
